The Arts Project Room

THE ARTS PROJECT ROOM

Itís finally spring and the Arts Project Room has a few wonderful things going on.

Whatís the Project Room you ask?

The Arts Project Room at Info- Age is a space entrusted to a growing group of artists and crafters to provide classes, workshops and a host of other events for the community.

What is InFoAge Museum?

InfoAge is a non-profit museum dedicated not only to preserving history but also integrating it with the arts. Aside from the buildings incredible historic past, InfoAge boasts a variety of individual museums like a Radio museum, Deep Sea Diving museum, WWII History museum, Vintage Computer Technologies and Communications museums and the famous Diana Dish with a brand new space lab. They will also be welcoming soon The Model Railroad Club where enthusiasts can enjoy and learn about railroads past.

What kind of classes and programs will be at the Project Room?

From beginner drawing classes to skilled masters honing in on their work, you will find every style and genre from artists and crafters who will confidently share their skills with you. Also we will be having one and two day events for adults and children alike to not only have fun making art, but it will be a time to meet new people and to share creative ideas with others in the community.

Do I need a teachers degree to be an instructor?

NO! We believe that if every person has a skill than they can be a teacher. It is up to you. All you have to do is create your class schedule, advertise your class ( and all members help too) and set your price for the class, or workshop. 30% goes back to the Project Room and we split that with the Museum.

Is that all?

Oh no! Because The Arts Project Room is still in itís infant stages we still need members and non-members alike to help in any way they can. Especially by spreading the word. The more the merrier we say! The Projects Rooms goals is to also have, Film night where we will have discussions on art. Critiques night where artists can come and have friendly conversations and suggestions on their work and our version of the Artists Way meeting, where artists can share ideas and get encouraging feedback for those shifting in a new direction or if they are stuck in a limbo. We also will be having several art fairs each year and members will have the opportunity to take part in the largest fundraiser of the year by creating your own set for one of New Jerseys largest Halloween walk through, Camp Evans Base of Terror right here at the museum or by being a vendor during the nine nights of October. And if thats not enough, InfoAge has one of the most wonderful displays during Christmas and thats the Holiday Train Spectacular. If your an artist looking to show and sell your work throughout the year then it is here and it will only get better year after year.

What are the Project Rooms Future Goals?

As we expand, the Project Room will be applying for grants and sponsorships to help us grow. As members we hope to qualify for group grants and individual artists grants. Also, we foresee things like student art shows, international artists exhibitions and artists studio spaces that can be awarded for 3 months to one and two years. If thats not enough, we envision beautifying projects, site specific installations, out door sculpture gardens and maybe an out door amphitheater. Oh yes! This is going to get very exciting!
